I think you can tell by Cousins comments that he's very open to being here and probably wants to come back.

I don't think that is the case. I think Kirk from the outset has wanted to get to this point, that being his name being on the open market. Short of overpaying by a lot, he was not going to sign anything. And I don't think that is wrong of him. He took the risk that he wouldn't play bad, and that he wouldn't sustain a career ending injury, and he survived that risk. Now he can collect.

Nothing that has ever been said by KC sounded like he was going to sign while the FT was in play. I hope make the Skins make it clear that the FT isn't in play this year and that it is a LTD, or we part ways.

From that I hope that KC agrees on a LTD here.

Agree, and from a team-planning perspective, the Redskins kind of need it to be that way. They need to lock him into a contract so they can understand how much cap space they'll have over the next three years. It informs their planning with regards to resigning their own players and their planning with regards to signing new free agents on the open market.

At some point you need price certainty so you can form a cohesive plan. Right now they're forced to react to the uncertainty of the one year deal.

I bet if they had Cousins under a LTD last year, Zach Brown would have been signed for longer than a one-year. The price-certainty is worth quite a bit when it comes to forming a plan.
