I don't think he can. During the giants game in 2016, they moved Trent over to guard for a few series and Ty played tackle.

Trent was still the best player on the field and dominated but said after the game he hadn't practiced at guard.

If Ty could play guard, he would have in that situation.

He's played G before I can't remember the game but I'll try and find it. I remember the game u mentioned tho.

I think we’d like to put him at left guard. I think we were excited at the thought of having him and Trent on the same side. Unfortunately, we haven’t been able to keep them both on the field for very long and see how that works out. Ideally, if Trent is able to play the last four games and Morgan gets healthy, I’d like to leave Ty at left guard and see how he does – see how he progresses at that position.

Good news, but I certainly hope we extend him to a LTD during this season!

12,5M/y is almost what Trent Williams is making (5y 66M, 13M+/y) !

EDIT: as it stands now, that will actually make him the highest paid RG in the league in 2019:

I'm not sure if this already discussed but the Patriots traded a 5th rounder for Danny freakin Shelton!

That would have been a good get for our front office even if it cost a 4th round pick
