Okay but if the deal cannot go into effect until March 14 at 3 pm a lot can happen in a month and half.

I think Smith is every bit as good as Cousins but he rarely gets any respect.Goodbye Kirk say hello to Cleveland

Re: The FINAL Kirk Cousins Saga thread. 5.0
Probably have to sign smith to an extension...he’s In the last year of deal becuase we can’t be that stupid to trade for a one year guy? Can we be that dumb?
Extension probably 22-23 million per...? Head scratcher IMO unless it’s a 4th round or later. 17 million this year...so a 2/3 year deal? Probably

@AdamSchefter
QB Alex Smith and Washington now have reached an agreement on a new four-year contract extension, per sources. Smith, who had one year left on his contact, tied to Washington for next five seasons. Smith gets long-term deal from Washington that Cousins could not

Yep, I said I'd take anything besides Cousins playing here on another 1 year deal, this qualifies. Excited to move on. Welcome to DC Mr. Smith.

I will miss him, he was such a great guy. But now envisioning a future beyond 2018, it’s exciting.

Re: The FINAL Kirk Cousins Saga thread. 5.0
I just read an article on ESPN that said two years ago the Redskins offered Cousins a deal that averaged $12.5 million a year. I wish Cousins would tell the true story of what really was offered and his thoughts during his tenure in Washington. I would love to read his diary. I am pretty sure Snyder giving RG3 the keys to the city started things poorly right off the bat. Probably a nice long term contract offer would have made amends, but they insulted him again.
While I don't think he is as good as his stat line suggests he still is better than 2/3's of the starting QBs in the NFL. |
