I don’t see Kirk dishing any dirt. He’s not that guy. He’ll just say he’s happy to be wherever he signs and he’s ready to get to work.

I agree with CRed somewhat. I think KC is good, don't get me wrong. But his stats look like top 5 in the NFL because of the Gruden system. We have to give credit where it's due - the guy knows how to scheme in such a way to leverage his talent.

In 2016 he had Pierre, DeSean, and Reed mostly healthy and playing. We played Jackson deep and Reed and Garcon in the seams and underneath, it worked well. Now in 2017 Gruden realizes he's not as stacked at WR so he uses the athleticism of Trent, Scherff and Chris Thompson to crank up the screen game.

Andy Reid does this well, too. So I still conclude that Smith will basically duplicate Cousins's production, maybe with fewer turnovers. But I think it means that Cousins better be careful where he lands, because the scheme here was pretty QB friendly. He needs to make his way to something similar or he could end up disappointing his new fans.

Kirk had quite a few games where he had "garbage yards" if you will, when the D was in prevent and he was able to sling it around.. His best overall performance was The GB game and the Dallas T-GIving game, both of those he proved he can be a top tier passer.

yeah he is , I used to really like Kirk until last OS when he kept saying the same shit. Maybe the FO didn't go out of its way to keep DJAX and PG because they didn't know if Kirk would stay?

Who knows, I was good with letting them go too, even tho Garcon was my favorite player. Overpaying older players or overrated qbs is not good for winning.

Onwards and upwards. Looking forward to Smith to Doctson all season long. Doctson gonna have a huge year, just a hunch.

They were just older and wanted a ton of money. Value proposition wasn't there. Don't think it had anything to do with Cousins.

KC's comments are terrible. He may very well end up a politician like Heath Shuler.
Quote:
It shouldn’t. I think the tape is what you go off of. If you’re not going off the tape, I really wouldn’t want to be there anyway. I want to go to a team that’s going to evaluate the tape, watch the film, know football, and make those decisions based off that.
When a team does that, weighing good and bad, I think they will come in around the AS deal. If he isn't going to accept that, I wonder if he would retire?

And then there is this:
Quote:
Each year, I’ve gotten better as a player, and I think that bodes well for the future, because I’m only going into year seven,” Cousins said. “I expect to continue to improve. I’m excited about what the future holds. . . .
emphasis mine

I mean yes you hope to continually improve, but ONLY going into year 7. I thought that was funny.

The time has come I guess to pick him apart and justify why we feel ok with moving on.

Kirk seems like a good dude and he was easily the best QB we’ve seen here in a very long time. I truly wish him the best. I’ll keep a close eye on the rest of his career.

This! Lol. So true, and I'm probably the most guilty here. Isn't this 1 of the 5 steps of grief?

Yes, you're definitely in the anger phase.

Re: The FINAL Kirk Cousins Saga thread. 5.0

It was a surprise,” he said. “I was working out here in Minneapolis at my hotel and finished my workout, went over to my phone, had a lot of text messages and saw the news. Certainly hadn’t heard anything. But in this league and my story, I’ve learned that curveballs come all the time.

“I expect to be a free agent come March 14. We’ll see if that plays out, and if it does, it’s a unique opportunity I look forward to. Haven’t had a chance to pick where I’m going to play since 2007 when I chose to go to Michigan State. Looking forward to that opportunity.”

I've never heard someone cry so much about being mistreated yet getting 45M over the last 2 years lol I wish someone treated me like that.

The bottom quote says it all, he wants to pick his place to play and we all knew it wasn't the redskins. I like kirk but glad he's gone

Re: The FINAL Kirk Cousins Saga thread. 5.0

I don't read KC's quotes as whining or complaining -- it seems pretty matter-of-fact to me. And let's be honest, it's pretty shitty that he (and Fuller) found out about all of this not from the team, but through social media.

I wish we had a classier and better managed organization than one which would do that sort of thing. But we don't. KC has done nothing but work hard and do what is asked of him -- it's pretty shabby treatment to not even give him the courtesy of a "hey, fella, we've decided we're going in a different direction" call. Even if KC said he was not going to sign anything until FA began, so what? Bruce Allen -- is your ego so fragile that you can't take it? (I am speaking rhetorically here.) Seriously, this seems like the kind of crap that makes players have second thoughts about whether this is a team that they'd want to be on.

Honestly don’t see anything wrong with what he said or how he’s crying about anything. He’s handled himself with nothing but class in his time here.

I have no major beef either and will always pull for him.

That said, it was painfully obvious he wanted to leave, and so all the sweet talking he does about wanting to still be a Redskin is pretty disingenuous.

But I guess he had to say all the right things in case we ended up being the place he ultimately chose to come back to.

Can't be mad at him. Also, can't blame Bruce Allen for making an aggressive move. You can blame him for not signing Cousins in 2015, but you can't blame him for trading for Smith now.

Time for everybody to pull up their big boy pants and tie their big boy shoes and move on with life. Let's sign some mother f'n free agents! I'm ready for the next episode.
