Is it March 7th yet? I want to hibernate like a bear until then.

Re: The FINAL Kirk Cousins Saga thread. 5.0
If I'm Cleveland I'm taking Barkley at # 1 and Chubb or Fitzpatrick if available at # 4. If not, then draft your favorite QB. If one of those guys is there I'd try to use my assets to get back into the 1st round and get my QB.
Browns need guarantees. Those 3 guys + Nelson seem the closest things to a guarantee. Chubb and Garrett would be an awesome pass rushing tandem. Fitzpatrick is a leader that can play multiple spots.

Re: The FINAL Kirk Cousins Saga thread. 5.0
I really do hope having a Qb who wants to be here elevates the team.
Hall, the longest tenured player on the roster at the end of the 2017 season, said last week he was unsure if “Kirk wanted to be here” during an exclusive interview with The Sports Capitol. With no signs of commitment from Cousins, who becomes a free agent without another franchise tag at $34.4 million, Washington struck a deal with Kansas City for Smith in January. The trade cannot be finalized until March 14. “[Smith] wanted to be here,” Hall said. “When he was in Kansas City he reached out to those guys in Kansas City and told them, ‘Hey, I understand you guys want to move me. Could you try to get me to Washington? I really want to get to Washington.’ For a guy to really want us as a team, as teammates, that means a lot, that means a whole lot where, you know. It felt like Kirk was forced to be here. I wish nothing but the best for him and whatever is next for him, but this organization is doing nothing but going up.” https://thesportscapitol.com/2018/02...ed-to-be-here/ Sent from my SM-G955W using Tapatalk |

Agreed, it was one of the few initial bright spots that I liked. For all his words, Kirk's actions seemed to tell a different story. If he had wanted to be here, a deal would've gotten done.

I am surprised how many of you are backing the front office in this. After what the Skins did to him, he has played this perfectly.

Go back to after the 2016 season, and a lot of us were saying, "Yes, we didn't make the playoffs but there's two winning seasons in a row, and Kirk proved that 2015 wasn't a fluke for him. So, he deserves to be paid!" However, also remember that during the off season, Kirk's agent said they were not interested in any contract negotiations until Cousins is tagged. That should've been the first sign that Cousins didn't want to be in Washington, and only a tremendous, outlandish contract would keep him here. I also remember hearing little comments (that I honestly didn't believe but now, maybe there was some truth to it) about how Cousins asked for a trade and about how he wasn't signing with Washington while Bruce Allen was in town. I have no idea if any of that was true, but seeing how everything has transpired, I'm not sure I wouldn't believe any of that stuff to be the case. Having said that, in retrospect, the only chance the Redskins really had of signing Kirk Cousins was back in 2015. His bet on himself in 2016 was to prove he's marketable enough to leave town and make bank. The team did the best thing they could do in the present, which is let Cousins walk and sign Alex Smith. I support them 100% in this venture. Yes, they should've signed him after 2015, because honestly, they had no chance after 2016.

Re: The FINAL Kirk Cousins Saga thread. 5.0
I agree he played the FO like a fiddle to get the most money with the least commitment. I agree that the FO had opportunities to go different routes that may or may not have worked. I don't agree with the comment "After what the Skins did to him". Sorry 2 FT and 45M later, with Gruden and SM backing him over RG3, IF he couldn't get past that, that's his issue, not the Skins.

He has only played it perfectly if all a team wanted was a lot of yards but no real wins in big games and a Qb that does not elevate the team.

I'm not sure if I'm just drinking all the recent cool-aide about this subject but I'm more and more thinking the same thing. Top that off with the idea of Tom Brady who just wants to win so badly that he's willing to take a pay cut.

Re: The FINAL Kirk Cousins Saga thread. 5.0
I have seen him yell, 'You like that?!' at [Redskins general manager] Scot McCloughan," El-Bashir said. "He has this fire about him; he's not necessarily the most outspoken leader in that locker room, but he has this smoldering, fiery side to him."
"It goes all the way back into camp down in Richmond," Baker added. "When Kirk was the backup quarterback, he had done something good against the first team, he looked back at Coach Gruden and said, 'You like that! You like that don't you?'" "And we all would get pissed off, like Kirk would you shut up? You're the backup man, leave us alone, man." http://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/1...s-happened-nfl There was a report of him repeatedly saying how you like me now right at Scot M after the green bay game too. I think we’re all familiar with you like that by now. Why is it a negative 2 years after the fact when everyone was loving it back then?? The pile on continues.
