Rae Carruth apologizes for death of pregnant girlfriend, seeks custody of 18-year-old son

This could get interesting. Carruth does not deserve custody of his son, not now or ever. But if he is truly repentant about the harm he caused, it would be a good start for him to try to be there for the kid, provided the kid and his caretaker are ok with it. If they aren't he should seek a fresh start elsewhere.

He shouldn’t be allowed within 100 miles of the kid that he almost killed and left handicapped for life. Its one thing to say you are sorry to your kid for yelling at them a bit too loud but to apologize for having their mother killed and causing them severe disability throughout the course of their life is just ridiculous.
Im all for second chances except when you try to kill someone. That sort of negates the rest of your existence together.

I agree Punch, if they had given him the death penalty I honestly wouldn't have cared because it's about as heinous a crime as it gets.

But the whole point of prison is to rehab a person (and while I think most of the time the system fails), so if prison really did rehab him and his son/caretaker are ok with him trying to establish a relationship I don't have a problem with it. I'm sure they won't welcome him with open arms initially (as is their right) but stranger things have happened.

I hope he is rehabilitated. I hope he is truly sorry. If he is keep your distance and send him every penny you ever make anonymously. I guess im looking at it from the perspective of ...how can you try to kill someone and than be like hey sorry little man.... it is beyond any sort of reconnection at this point. No matter what he actually feels inside. And to even express the idea of building a relationship again screams this guy is as nuts now as he was than.

It'd be a start. I'm just looking at it from the perspective of someone who has a disabled family member and has seen the toll it takes on their parents/caretakers. His caretaker probably appreciates any help she can get, so it wouldn't be hard to imagine her saying yes to any financial help Carruth could give. But this whole conversation is moot if neither of them want him in their lives, which is totally understandable given the circumstances.

I doubt it is per season. Maybe, $30 million for 1st season- $30 million signing bonus, spread over 5+ years.

Funny even over at emoskins it is starting to sink in Kirk was all about the money.

Reading some interviews with players it seems Kirk was not really about the team.

Fuller is missed more.

Why is it Kirk’s fault if the Jets offer him stupid money? I still think he ends up in Denver or Minnesota but if NY does something crazy like a totally guaranteed deal who could blame him? Don’t lie you’d do it too
