Brown is one of the fastest LB in the league and Foster is one of the smartest (not best, but smart). I think those two traits are synergistic. Between the two, I think the tackles were being made for much shorter gains than after they became out or limited.

Agreed.
I really don't get why Foster is so underrated here. When the DL was healthy, he and Brown where all around the field against the run, and he covers way better than Brown.
Not the best athleticism but as you say he is smart... and tough as a mofo ! ! He had a game winning INT minutes after dislocating his shoulder!
