Re: Redskins Offseason Thread

It looks like 4 compensatory draft picks in 2019.

"The highest compensatory pick a team can get is a third rounder and that is what Washington will get for losing Kirk Cousins to the Vikings. His new contract averages $28 million per year, by far the highest of any UFA that changed teams. That should land the Redskins a pick near the top of the stack of the seven third-round selections awarded, almost assuring them a comp pick in the top 100.

In addition, the Redskins will get a fifth-round pick for losing OL Spencer Long and two sixth-round selections for losing WRs Ryan Grant and Terrell Pryor"

Pretty awesome we get compensation for garbage like Ryan Grant and Terrell Pryor.

That being said...outside of Interior Oline questions which are 100% legit with starters at LG and C...WR has the be the second area of the team Im moderately worried about. Our coaching there has been poor to match the performance of the group. Make or break for Doctson and Crowder, done with both if no improvement with either.

In the 2019 draft they need. TE, QB,OL..... BPA on defense. It is nice to have 11 picks at the start, maybe they trade up if they love a player.

I suspect the answer is no, but what about a pick for Breeland? He was signed away from us before May 8, even though it was voided. Does the contract have to be in place as of May 8? Assume that Indy cuts Grant in August, would we still get the pick? Not sure how this works, but if anyone knows, I'd be grateful for the education.

Re: Redskins Offseason Thread

I answered my own question -- we get nothing for Breeland because he wasn't signed by anyone as of May 8: https://www.nbcsports.com/washington...shaud-breeland

And we didn't do a tender (I wonder why) by which we could get a compensatory pick.

I guess it means the concerns about his foot infection are serious and could linger for some while...
Sucks for him, and for us, having him back for 1M would have been one hell of a bargain, even with every body expecting 3rd round pick Moreau to step it up.

I don't think they wanted him back at any price.

They had to like him a bit, they started him outside over Fuller.
I understand not wanting to pay him 10M/y when you think you have a solution with Moreau/Dunbar, and you're already spending 15M/y on Norman, but you're telling if they knew he'd be healthy before the season starts, they wouldn't want him for 1M ?
