What’s the benefit of having your backups go for it on 4th down? Special teams need reps too.

From beyond the 20 fine kick the FG, but a 3rd FG when red zone production has been a huge issue, give guys opportunities to make plays. The score itself is meaningless.

Also gives one more tape that coaches can look at and use as teaching tools. A fg from the 3 yd line shows nothing.
