https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/...re-disturbing/
I probably read this a few years ago, but just wanted to refresh my memory of what exactly went down for the sake of my current thoughts on this guy now that I will be watching him play every weekend. Really seems like , at least at one point, this guy had some real issues. Maybe he has changed. Who knows.

Re: Redskins Signing Adrian Peterson

I have followed the Skins since 1972. I am not thrilled that they have signed a guy convicted of child abuse. However, I am not going to stop rooting for the Skins because they signed a guy whose past actions of which I disapprove.

Should he be in football? Probably not.
Does it bother me that he is playing for my favorite team? Yes.
Am I going to stop watch the Skins because of it? No.

I hope the Skins win the SB and, if AP contributes to that, okay.

I think this sums up exactly where we are all at. We have a conundrum folks. It is a very fine line but at the end of the day we can root for the team and not the man. In other words Im not going to buy his dang jersey. That is for sure. Great season or not he cannot “run away” from what he did. Also next year, barring the renaissance of renaissances he will no longer he a Redskin.

Re: Redskins Signing Adrian Peterson

I want to emphasize this point - if you’re going to continue buying tickets or buying merchandise or watching the games on TV thereby contributing to the NFL’s TV ratings - then your concern over the Peterson signing is empty and has no teeth behind it.

It’s the equivalent of saying I’m outraged enough by (pick your political issue, school shootings, police violence against black people, etc.) to talk about it on Facebook, but not outraged enough to actually get off my couch and do anything about it. I’ll tell my friends in a bar, “you know they should really ban assault rifles”, but I won’t donate to candidates who support it, and I won’t take a Saturday to march, etc.

Either do something about it, or accept that your opinion doesn’t matter. Continue to blow hot air on a message board if you must, I guess farting in the wind feels good too.

Oh. Then I intended to make a joke and revealed how poor my musical culture is, didn't I?

Re: Redskins Signing Adrian Peterson

Several of AP runs last night got me really excited. I’ve been asking for a vet RB in free agency for the last couple years..not necessarily a big time signing but an experienced complement.

Rob Kelly could have never made those runs to the outside. I think an AP/ Perine backfield with CT on third down is best case scenario.

Re: Redskins Signing Adrian Peterson

After watching AP, I thought to myself that Kelley is going to get cut. His preseason numbers are awful, and I could see Gruden going with AP, Perine, CT and Marshall or Bibbs (the latter two having more apparent upside than Kelley).

Kelly is terrible. AP has much more natural talent, even at this age.

Yea, he runs like a 24 year old.

The big issue is his body, from week to week, will recover like a 33 year old.

I'm optimistic, but also realistic.

I wouldn't be so sure about that. It's a long season. 11 carries in a pre season game isn't much to go on. But he looked pretty good.
