Out of the top of my head, trying to find positives, I think Moreau had a really good game.

The positives tonight....

* Always #1 - Tress Way

Jokes aside....

* AP
* Paul Richardson
* Lanier, Taylor, Settle
* Moreau

* Hogan & Bibbs look great, bit in garage time.

Agreed, would add the 1st string OL in there... And have to check if I had my burgundy and gold glasses on when looking at Payne and Allen or not...

I'm with you in the o-line...

Just hard for me to say Payne/Allen were even decent when we got gashed so badly in the run game, especially right through the middle of line and not on sweeps or tosses to the outside, all first half... Definitely weren't stuffing runs at the line or behind it

But remember too... Our run game looked good to start last year too when our line was healthy... It does look like a positive going in if they can stay healthy!

To me this is key, re-watched the 1st half (condensed version, only the plays, snap to whistle) , I think Payne and Allen pushed the pocket well, drove their guys back in the run game, split double teams... but our LBs were out of position, and both LBs and DBs missed tackles...

Apart from a batted ball by Mason Foster, him and Vigil (who I both usually like quite a lot) really had an awful game!

Another thing I didn't notice among positives ones: #82 TE JP Holtz continues to play well at FB! With Elijah Wellman on IR, that is an appreciated surprise.

Yea, that dude just makes blocks. I don't think the numbers work out for a roster spot but darn, he is the best blocker at FB in a few years.

I like the implications of having a FB on the roster. Maybe the vaunted Gruden/Callahan run scheme is going to be overhauled (I doubt it).

I still don't understand Gruden's lack of run game, he is plenty smart enough to figure it out, and it just seems more stubborn than anything.

I know he wants the run plays to "look" a certain way for play action but geez, it is insanity to do the same thing over and over and expect different results.

I think sometimes a lot of coaches just make it harder than in needs to be. If you can't run the ball it would probably make sense to have a pure fullback on the roster. He could not only be a fullback but play on all the teams stuff. Pretty simple stuff.
