If we let Preston walk and then trade RK that leaves us with pretty much nothing from an edge rusher perspective

Anderson came along solid but I'm just saying as far as gaining 1's. If RK can't get us a 1st then I'd say keep him

I dont recall if D.J. was a free agent after this year... but if he wasnt, pretty effing dumb to cut him to make yourselves look good when you could have at the least gotten a 3rd or 4th for him if planned on cutting him anyway.

He still had a year left I think. We should have benched and then traded him.

Re: Offseason starts now: A Redskins players thread

As for the RK talk.... I'm thinking it might be good to bring in a rookie or younger player with more speed and jump, to either challenge for the position or split time. He's still a good to great player and one of my favorites but, the guy just doesn't change the game the way he used to 5 years ago... and smith on the other side... the guys are only average as far as today's edge rushers go (on a consistent basis view anyway) and it's been noticeable. We have the interior push now and it will only improve. Ya need someone to split time with kerrigan/smith that will be a bigger impact in the rush IMO.

What was DJ really going to get in a trade, if anything? Dude was available to any of the playoff teams and he was claimed by Arizona.

he played well enough to warrant a 4th no? The dude was playing well majority of the season, plus doesnt waiver order give the shittier teams first crack?

Right. Plus a 6th or 7th would have been better than nothing.

A 4th? I really doubt that, if they felt he was worth anything worthwhile they would have gone that route

Raiders and Packers were the other teams that put in claims for him

That alone proved all we need to know, he's not a good locker room guy and AZ is just desperate to get anyone in that bad defense they have.

IIRC he was claimed off waivers by AZ, who was also #1 on the waiver wire. So it's not like they had a chance.
