Sources tell me the Redskins are offering their DB's job to Ray Horton. I'm told they like the idea of making him their defensive pass game coordinator as well.

Horton was a defensive coordinator from 2011 to 2017 in Arizona and Cleveland. Was out of football last season.

What is it with teams having these "defensive pass game coordinator" and "run game coordinator" and "offensive passing game coordinator" positons? is it just to give guys a fancier title than "Defensive backs coach, running backs coach, Wide receivers coach, etc.?

I wondered that too, like why would you have different coordinators for run/pass? That seems like too many cooks in the kitchen to me.

Did he work for Redskins before? For some reason, I remember we once had a coach with same last name on defense side. I think it was back in Gibbs 2.0 era.

Yes he did, assistant DB coach 1994-96
