Re: NFL Free Agency Thread

I rather see it that way too (although I hope it becomes an unmitigated disaster). Some have wondered whether they're squandering Saquon Barkley's best years. But look at AD -- he's still running at a high level. They could complete a rebuild in a few years and still have an elite RB talent in the fold.

I hear the same complaint but Barkley is only a rookie I don't see how anything was wasted?

Colin Cowherd actually making a solid case for not trading ODB jr. He saying this all started with the Giants not taking Sam Darnold...and refusing to not cut Eli.

If they would have taken Darnold...ODB Jr would still be there. Could cut Eli and saved 17 mill this year. Coulda signed any RB they wanted...including Bell

Darnold, ODB Jr and L Bell...........would probably win the East this year

They just paid Eli a $5M bonus, I don't get why if they're "rebuilding". I also don't get why they gave OBJ a new monster contract only to trade him 6 months later. But according to G1 it's all good. Gettleman has a plan. I've said all along they could have drafted Darnold and Nick Chubb later on. It was a good draft to land a QB/RB tandem. Then they could load up on D this year.

I like what the're doing ,I think it's a little strange anytime Odell would screw up you guys would jump on it but now you seem to be concerned the Giants trade Odell . We gained and additional 2.5 million so far but next year with Odell ,Vernon and Eli off the books they will have over 90 million .They just sign Golden Tate and a O lineman and will build the D in the draft, yes, I like this alot.
As for a QB ,maybe trade for Rosen or grab a youngin this year or even wait till next .......I don't care I like Gettlemans plan.

I thought the plan was even if they did not resign him they would get the 4th round pick back as a compensatory pick. Does this contract even get them a 7th round compensatory pick?

He wouldn't count against the compensatory pick formula so that's a feather in his cap.

At this point I'd recommend a patient approach on safety. Mike Adams, Tre Boston, Glover Quin, Jahleel Addae, Darian Stewart, and plenty of others are still available. The supply is going to outstrip the demand.

I'd be looking at guards and let the safety market come to me.
