Re: NFL Free Agency Thread

I know he had a major injury last season, but when healthy Jason Verrett is a good corner. Good pick up by the 49ers (if he stays healthy).

Adam Schefter @AdamSchefter
49ers signing former Chargers’ CB Jason Verrett to a one-year, $3.6 million deal, per source.

I don't know much about him, but I bet Tre Boston would be far superior to Ha-ha. I'd be ok with that, especially since they threw so much coin into safety. No sense in a great safety with someone as wimpy as Ha-ha. We definitely need someone better

I still haven't given up on Montae Nicholson, he's shown some flashes of tremendous potential. Do you guys think he'd have the range/speed to switch to FS ?

Definitely has the range, that's not an issue. Angles, reading and reacting, avoiding overpursuit, those are his issues. Mostly the mental stuff. I still think he can become a good one but I definitely need to see a lot of growth this year or I'll be at the point where we have to write him off.

Agreed. I feel like he never went back to being his old self after suffering that nasty concussion tackling Pierre Garçon.
When he came back it often felt like he was playing scared, scared of contact. Not blaming him for that, but I hope he can overcome that, I think he has the potential to become a very good player.

Doesn't he have pending legal troubles and a possible suspension?

Re: NFL Free Agency Thread

Solid players on the board at Guard and Safety.

WR is tougher, but Geronimo Allison is a burner at Green Bay and they put the lowest tender available on him. Id give him a look....also slot and boundary corner has a couple really nice players available as well.

The biggest name out there surprisingly is Suh, really interested where he would go. Man, let me dream real quick, Jonathan Allen-Payne-Suh-Matty I......damn that would be fun.

Re: NFL Free Agency Thread

Am I alone in thinking it a little strange that Suh and Jared Cook don't seem to have any offers yet? I know Suh has an element of baggage, but he did well in LA last season and I'd have thought they would have re-signed him if they have the cap space. Cook isn't the greatest option at TE, but he's the best of a sorry FA crop by some way and I'd have thought there are a few teams that could use help at TE. I'd say Zach Brown may fit in that category too. Surprised he hasn't been snapped up.

OTOH, I can see them hanging around until after the draft when teams know what they have and still have holes to fill.

Here's a quick breakdown of what the Redskins did in free agency: They're back at square one with their quarterback situation, they overpaid for Landon Collins, they gave a multi-year contract to a running back who will soon be 34 and they gave $4 million to Ereck Flowers, which by itself qualifies them to rank this low. They also have apparently not been filling in their head coach about their free agency plans.

What do you think of this?
I don't think they overpaid for LC, The cap hit for 2019 is not bad. Plus after 3 years he can be cut, lets hope not...

As for the roster, it's obvious this team lacks star power, especially on Offense.

When your best player is the LT, it spells for a rough season.

QB stinks
WR is close to the worst in the NFL.
TE's are Old (VD) or Injured all the time (Reed)
RB's are good but how much does Peterson have left?? Is Guice the real deal?

Huge Question marks with this team once again.

To be honest I don't know how they were 6-3 at one point last yr.
