There isn't enough information for me to form an opinion either way. Besides, I've become acclimated to the constant turmoil that is the NFL. Both sides will do what they do and we'll move on.

No, you didn't. It's an NFL problem. Just look at the recent issues the Raiders, Steelers and Giants had with some of their stars.

And the Jets, Browns, and Raiders don't always have drama?

This is exactly how i feel, as it relates to the rumors regarding why TW is holding out. They have been all over the place. Some fans are taking a rumor that TW is unhappy about some aspect of the medical care he received for his tumor and cheering TW on as if he is a champion for standing up for himself.

There are three sides to every story. One side, the other side, and then the truth. In this case, we have don't have ANY of the above. We certainly don't have the truth. The redskins haven't said anything. Trent hasn't said anything - from his side all we have are unspecific rumors that provide no details as to what occurred or what, exactly, his potential gripe with the team is.

To "pick a side" at this point and champion it blindly is incredibly stupid.

The only facts we know at this point are that TW:
- Has been one of, if not the best, player on this team for nearly a decade
- has a significant injury history
- is 31
- has 2 years on his contract remaining
- is holding out of camp for a variety of reasons
- two players close to him (AP and Moses) have given completely conflicting reports on why he's not present.
- his coach wants him back

That is really all we KNOW at this point. Based on that, we can hypothetically discuss what his "financial worth" is at this point in his career, but that's it. We simply don't have enough information to "pick a side" as it relates to who has wronged who (if anyone).

Re: Trent Williams holding out for new deal

The poll choice above is too over simplified - Pay hm or trade him.
This decision for the team and TW will depend on whether he wants to come back, if so how much he wants, will the be willing to pay and lastly TW's health.
He is under contract so this makes for drama.
However there seems to be a disconnect between the players and the coaches/team doctors and the front office. This needs to get fixed yesterday. Big F for the team to have their best players upset at the way this was handled. But it could get fixed.
Last years debacle of a season has exposed some serious dysfunction in the relationship between the players and the coaches/FO.
What immediately comes to mind is the players that complained about out inept Defensive coordinator all have been cut. Players should have a forum to complain about coaching issues privately and not lose their job. Seems kind of petty/

At the end of the day isn't what the situation boils down to? Besides, I like simple, no wiggle room polls, otherwise they just get silly with too many options.

In this case, I really would have liked an option for do nothing. I realize it might have gotten the lion share, but that really is the right answer, the Skins are under no obligation to make a change in the situation, and the best option is that they don't.

Re: Trent Williams holding out for new deal

I think Grant Paulson on the radio this morning had the best take about the situation....Yes Trent may be upset how the Skins didn't communicate the proper urgency with the growth on head, and it probably scared him to death once he found out. BUT to think the Skins would be purposely negligent with their most valuable player of the last 10 year is silly.

While the anger is probably real its most likely overblown, leverage play for a bigger deal especially with the limited amount of guaranteed money after this year. Forget the handling of the injury...look at the fact Trent has missed time do to injury recently, if he gets injured and misses time again this season, he could be cut will little impact to the cap next offseason. Then he faces a new deal with a lot of questions: Injury prone, turning 32 before the 2020 season. Trent and his agent at the minimum are trying to squeeze some more guarantee money attached to the end of the deal or trying to maximize an extension with the team.

one thing is for sure, its highly, highly unlikely Trent will sit out and miss game checks of nearly a million per.

Agreed. I also would want to understand why Trent is relying on team doctors to treat a potential tumor on his scalp. If I had a tumor on my scalp, id go see a dermatologist and have them look at it. If they were worried about it, they'd order a biopsy and/or refer to an oncologist of some kind.

We definitely need more information because Trents being angry at the team doctors does not seem rational given the facts we have. It could be there are other facts we don't have that would completely change the story, though.

Ross Tucker on the Morning drive this morning said "The Redskins would be crazy to trade Trent Williams"

Its obviously not something they want to do. However, IF the rumors are true that this is not about money and has vowed to never play for the team again and he's committed to sitting out indefinitely, even if it costs him game checks, then what other choice do they have?

I hope the situation is not as dire as some reports, but if Trent really is determined, he can force them to trade him by refusing to withhold his services.
