I wouldn't be surprised if he's cut, but still thinks he makes the team. He needs to be at least reasonably impressive in the preseason. I really like Sims' size, Davis' athleticism, and heard a lot of other positive stuff about a lot of the other new guys (Mclaurin, etc.) Gruden needs to play him v. Cincy. Still stunned he didn't play v. Cleveland.

I hate to point this out to you, but a lot of the "starters" didn't play in the Cleveland game. That could mean that he is considered to be a starter. Heaven help us, Gruden is probably planning to start him even though he surely won't be with us next season. That's a Jay Gruden-like thing to do.

To answer the original question, I think Doctson would rejoin the team in 2020 if he put up 150 receptions, 2k yards, 25 td's, and became the best blocking WR on the team. Anything less and he's gone.

I realize that a lot of starters didn't play v. Cleveland, but wr is a super competitive unit this year with the talent present. Share the same notion that it may be a forgone conclusion that Docston starts. I want him to earn it though with Sims, Davis, Harmon, etc hungry to make this team and contribute.

Doctson will start until his pissy attitude combined with one of the other guys stepping up makes it easy to drop him down the depth chart. The other guys are just unproven right now.

Agreed. He better be deserving of starting though. These other guys appear hungry and talented. Really wanna see what they can do the next couple preseason games.

It could mean that or it could mean they are trying to trade him and didnt want him to get hurt, or it could mean they know what he brings and want to look at the rest of the wrs. I hope that it does not mean that he is the penciled starter over c sims or r davis

If they are trying to trade him, that would be covert and interesting. I'd jump at a 3rd at this point and consider a 4th. Call me crazy, but I gotta feeling about these new guys. Still wanna give Robert Davis a real shot. Dude is sick athletically.

There is no chance to get a 3rd in 2020, maybe in 2050 or so. He has one year left on his contract and if he has a good year he will be hard to resign.

I tend to agree. Doctson even thinks he's hitting FA next season according to his comments. At least, he should be motivated considering he's in a contract year.
