So I do think his report is legit, and I think putting out there the news that the Pats were willing to give a 1st could make other teams think about doing the same.

I know NFL's FOs aren't regular fans, but tell me knowing Belichik and Cie were OK with giving a 1st isn't going to legitimate the idea that TW is worth a 1st in the eyes of the league ? It sure would in the eyes of many fans, and in some instances perception is reality. I'd say setting market value is one of these instances.

If TW was in his mid 20's then I'd agree w/ you. But he's 30 +, plays 12 games a year and probably wants more money. You're not going to get multiple picks for him. The Pats aren't stupid. They're not dropping their pants like Bruce does on trades.

I don't care what the rumors are, I think the ceiling for Trent is a 2nd, especially from the Patriots. Like the above says he isn't mid 20's and doesn't play 16 games a year. He probably doesn't have a lot of tread left on his tires, he isn't playing another 5-6 years.

Not saying the Pats are going to tremendously increase their offer, just saying this is now the baseline for any negotiations, and as many have previously said, a LT needy team will more likely than not be created via injury and/or urge to make a playoff run. Come that time, if not before, we can expect offers to surpass a late 1st rounder.
