God was/is the most important thing in Gibbs life. He has said it many times and advocated his players adopt the same approach.

His entire existence and life philosophy is based on his religion. The difference is he treated everyone as an individual rather than a member of a certain group

He was a quiet example always willing to talk but never pushy or condescending. Portis is quoted in the link saying as much.

Discounting Gibbs belief in God and how it affected his coaching of men is nothing short of re-writing history.

He has been interviewed many, many times about it.
