What does that say about Kalil Mack? The answer is nothing.

How many times was young double teamed, or otherwise taken out of the play by scheming around his responsibility?

Are you basing that on the stat line or because you watched film with a member of the coaching staff, or something in between?

Young is a good player, however, you need to get a great player at #2. Yes, I have watched videos with a member of the coaching staff. We could not find any film on Young. Where are all the "experts" who said the D-line would be great with Allen, Payne, Kerrigan, and Matt I?

One player is not going to turn everything around....no second-round pick too, and plenty of holes to fill.

Chase Young is a no brainier. You take him and run, unless you get a RG 3 type deal. You do not over complicate it, you turn the card in and take the best player.

None of those players had the potential coming out that Young has. None were as coveted. Of course he could Tony Mandarich. Anyone can. But you don’t not draft him because he might he a bust. And honestly if you have watched him the last couple years there is nothing that should make you shy away from him. I can’t even imagine what will be listed under weaknesses.

So, the "no brainer" picks were less than 50% accurate

You call Chris Samuels and Trent Williams just “good”. These were the number 1 or 2 BEST left OT in the entire NFL, with numerous pro bowl appearances and long-time, outstanding players on the Redskins. What do you have to do to become “very good” or “excellent” -be a HOFer?

With the first round pick you need a immediate and long-term starter in critical positions. With a high, first-rounder (like our #2 pick) pick you need the above criteria and to a star or superstar. With Sean Taylor, Samuels and yes, Trent Williams you had the best player on the team and a leader. Sean was taken well before his prime.

Of the first five pick busts listed above, you are right -they were bad picks (although Desmond Howard ran back a kick in the SB for Green Bay and LaVar was pretty decent). But some of these picks violated how you use a high draft pick in the first round. It must be for a critical position: two of those first five were WR : Howard and Westbrook plus Dotson (not on list but also a first rounder). WR is not a critical position but a skill position.

Two of the 1st round draft busts above were QB: Shuler, RGIII and also Campbell (drafted in late first round). QB is a hard pick because it’s difficult to know is a QB can transition in the NFL.

Arrington was also good but only lasted 5 years. But again is LB a critical position on the team, when you don’t have a good QB?

Many of these picks were made in the 20 years of the Snyder era, where he and his lackey (Cerrato & Allen) made the draft decisions. Their track record is poor.

In the last two years the draft has been managed largely by Kyle Smith (with some Snyder micromanagement). He has done very well in the 2019 with 8 rookie starters this year! I trust him and Rivera to make the right decision.

Kyle Smith, Rivera, Del Rio and others will undoubtedly scrutinize all of Chase Young’s tape, they will see how he does in the Combine and they will interview him, probably multiple times. They will know a great deal about Chase Young as a player and as a man.

If they chose him, I am confident Chase will do well or better, although nothing is guaranteed. If they trade down, it is either because they had doubts about Chase Young or they got an incredible trade deal that they could not pass up.

If Chase is drafted after all the time spent looking at him, then the expectation is for him to be a star or superstar and a leader on the team. A game changer who helps or inspires the others on the defense to do better. Having Chase Young paired with Sweat in a 4-3 scheme, with Jack Del Rio as their DC, is almost a dream come true.

Young-Sweat could be the best pass rush combo since Manley-Mann pass rush titans of yesteryear. If they draft Young it means he has passed all the tests and he has shown great ability in the tape review. He could be a superstar passing rush freak!

It did for SF with Bosa, we are built almost the same. Bosa was the missing link, young is our missing link that Kerrigan can’t provide on a consistent basis. Young is explosive and a big time disruptor, we haven’t this kind of pass rush since Manley and Mann.

No way he has been more dominant than Bosa waa at OSU. He gets double teamed to death. Also remember that when you know your about to cash it in you might just play safer. He will be better than Bosa. Already is on the collegiate level.
