My only point is it's natural to get excited, we cleaned the house and it's a fresh start. It doesn't mean anything until we start putting wins on the board.

Exactly. I think Rivera saw what happened to all the other great (Gibbs, Shanahan), good (Schottie) and”why did you hire this guy” (Zorn) HC’s of the Redskins and wanted to avoid their biggest hinderance - which was interference of Snyder and Cerrato/Allen. Rivera asked for and was given total control of the football aspects of the team - TO KEEP DAN SNYDER OUT OF THE MANAGEMENT of operations. That is a HUGE & POSITIVE change for this team. What is also exciting is that the team and Rivera are moving rapidly to get the people & coaches in place NOW, and to begin to rebuild the franchise from the ground up. The Giants and Cowboys haven’t moved yet on changes or not. I think we’ll see some coaches from Carolina migrate over for Rivera and maybe a couple key players from the Panthers. The future is now! Re: Ron Rivera Thread
Let’s hope the time since then for Dan to reflect on how terrible his meddling issues have impacted the organization have helped him make changes moving forward

Ron Rivera Thread
Quote:
Yeah, but he had Bruce Allen built into the management structure to do Dan Snyder’s bidding. Allen has enormous power over personnel choices and other matters. There is no such person in place now , and Rivera has the right to decline any person who Snyder might try to bring in under the old pattern. I am cautiously optimistic that Snyder and his meddling and micromanagement is over. The next GM and VP will be NFL-savvy and of a far better quality than Cerrato/Allen. They also will only be chosen if they can work closely with Rivera and his crew. Finally, I’m not suggesting that Snyder is closed out of all football issues. He’ll be informed by Rivera. But his current, secret advisor group has far more football knowledge than before and are NOT part of the organization, which means that they’re not giving advise in order to maintain their position in the franchise or to improve it (like with Bruce Allen). A good example of the “before” and “after” Snyder is the case of OC, O’Connell. In prior years, Snyder would have just placed O’Connell as Rivera’s OC. Now, Rivera made the decision. I’m sure Snyder gave Rivera his thoughts on O’Connell, but in the end it was Rivera’s decision. New environment and hopefully a new way of doing business. Because this new way is the only way to successfully rebuild this team and franchise. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

"Am told Rivera would have total control and final say on Draft. Gives time to evaluate scouting staff. ALL this given unless something in meeting tomorrow goes wrong" I'dd add it goes along with Dan saying Ron Rivera is going to be the one and only voice of the Redkins in the press conf. Our Head Coach is gonna be the face of this franchise and I'm on board with that.

Rivera obviously is aware of the previous mistakes made by this organisation, and it seems he sat down and talked about it with Dan in a honest and up front enough way to get insurance he wouldn't get down that road with him.
