I read in a so called NFL Draft publication when analyzing/rating TE’s said, “Pure blocking tight ends can be found later in the draft and don’t often get scouting profiles.”
When I went to other 2020 draft talent evaluators when talking about TE’s it was all about receiving. Barely no mention about blocking skills or no mention at all.
It would seem there might be a few strong blocking TE’s that we’re trapped in a shitty offense/QB in college and were never given the chance to be targeted in his offense. We need to find a few of these guys and develop them. Being a good in line blocking NFL TE is a god given talent. Coaching blocking technique helps improve a blocker, but you cannot teach a Jordan Reed like TE who was not even a good blocker in college become capable of blocking NFL LB’s and DL.
