Compared what the Redskins have paid the last couple years for the production at the tight end position those guys are Gronk and Kelce. It would take a major screw up not to improve that position.

They paid for that production on past production. Reed was basically paid off of his jaw dropping potential and I believe 2015. And Davis had been around a long time and could still run.

Hooper hasn't had a year close to what Reed did in 2015, but maybe that's cause he isn't the first option. But he simply doesn't have the elite skill set that Reed or Davis had.

Hooper is more like a Cam Brate, solid option but his ceiling isn't that high like Reed's was.
