I think the pickups that Kyle Smith and Rivera will make late in the TC and PS this season will be more on the line of rookies or second or third year guys who were beat for the position. For instance, the Bears have 10 TE’s. If they get rid of 7, there might be one or two good one’s who just missed the cut on their team. Some of these pickups will be busts but a few may end up being like Flowers was last year - a guy who everyone thought was washed up but then had a good year, on a minimal one year salary. With our cap space carried forward, we’ll be able to add these new young guys to longer-term deals next season. You may be right, we might get a couple older, short-term players but I think the team will be shooting for younger and talented players. BL - the draft and FA is done for most teams, but I think Kyle Smith will be lookin for unpolished gems that other teams let go (not trade) before the regular season starts. Re: The Redskins 2020 draft class
The one position that scares me right now is LT. If I only one veteran player were to be added to the roster I'd want him to be a LT. I don't want to see a rookie starting the season at that critical position. I don't think we can afford to risk our QB's health and NFL future by waiting for cuts to sort through the leftovers at that position.
The sooner we sign a FA LT or trade for a veteran LT, the better I'll feel about DH's future. |

Especially with a shorten off season. I understand the find late cuts rookie gems approach, but not this year. That's why I've been rooting for us to resign Donald Penn to a 1 year deal. I understand it's a new regime and a new coach, but he knows Haskins and his fellow Olinemen, bring him in now. Cheap safety net.

I honestly do not understand at all why the FO is hesitating to sign either Penn or Peters right now, IMMEDIATELY.

Agreed. At their r respective ages, neither will break the bank. Nor prevent us from other signings. For example, we may release a really dumb WR soon which will create a roster spot. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Re: The Redskins 2020 draft class
I guess I'd say at this point what's the rush? When a move needs to be made they'll make one.

Maybe they're trying to get the best deal possible by waiting it out a bit, but I doubt any of them is gonna get huge $ anyway so...
