This is the way now though. Sport teams can't be named after certain things anymore, it's gotta be something generic and non-offensive. Kraken is the only name to come out in the last several years that bucks that trend imo. Still, a winning record and tough team to play will go a long way in helping us accept the name. If they are called Commanders and we get our asses beat every other week it will be one more thing to rip on Dan for around the league.

How they should handle it is just shut up and don't say anything. They're trying to string along the fans and create a buzz and it's kinda drained itself out. I really don't even care at this point. The name change is dead to me.

Washington Commanders is a solid team name. But a rather long name when including both words.
Definitely better than 95% of the other names I've heard. I would have zero complaints with that name.

I don't want us to use another name of a major sports team, ala Warriors. But I don't think you can worry about if some random B-league team or minor league team or semi-pro team uses the name of has used the name previously. There are thousands of these teams, you would never be able to use any name then.
