Re: WFT 2020 Training Camp

According to @PFF_Vikings Riley stacks up like this:

Among 89 OTs Riley Reiff ranks

54th in sacks allowed with 5
39th in pressures allowed with 25
33rd in pass block grade with 73.2

So a guy that grades in the bottom of the top 1/3 essentially is going to be a huge upgrade for us, given what we currently have to deal with, even if he’s not close to being on level with the likes of what we used to have with Silverback.

Maybe it's just me but I totally disagree with the decision not to play any preseason games this year. Expecting them to step up on the field in week 1 and be fully up to speed is asinine. A trial game for staff to adjust would be helpful too.

I'm right there with you. I wanted AT LEAST one preseason game or some sort of scrimmage with a team prior to Week 1.

Totally agree. Just crazy that the 1st game is a huge division opener. Nothing to really go by with prior real action. It would be so awesome to beat Philly game 1. Think both teams are going to be hyped.

After six seasons with Jay I would think you would be used to week 1 being a preseason game.

I think it will. Everyone will be a bit raw without a preseason, but I reckon from his approach to date, RR will have them as ready as anyone week 1. And with the Eagles OL struggling, I like this match up for our 1st outing.

Feels like nearly every year we fret about the OL in the preseason and things mostly turn out fine with that unit. Probably more than any other spot on the field you can mask weakness with smart schemes and coaching.

Last year wasnt that bad as Penn and Flowers stayed healthy and played maybe at a C level. But I dont think we could be competitive with that left side. That was probably the worst LT-LG starting combo week 1 imo. But all we asked is that they stay healthy and they did that.

2018 though ... Zac Kerin and Luke Bowanko made starts for us. Zac Kerin and Luke Bowanko.

The shock of 2018 has not worn off on me.

I imagine the soft tissue injuries will be higher than usual.

edit -- dang it, this was in response to Baltimoreskins post which we decided not to quote because this would have been right under it and thus context would be understood and implied by all, even sdskinfan2001. But alas, the dreaded new page post happened depriving my Michael Scott 'boom roasted" meme of the needed context for the viewer to quickly and easily understand the reference by the mere organic sequence of said posts all appearing on the same page. I truly apologize for the delay and confusion and those responsible for the new page post have been sacked. The directors of this edit, hired after the directors of the original post had been sacked, wish that it be known that they too have been sacked.

Therefore, the edit to this post will immediately be shut dow ...

Appreciate the effort SS. This is the Ron Rivera effect. We are putting out our best and owning mistakes for growth. Good to see it trickling into the threads.
