Yes that part is easy, masks and social distancing is the least we can do and I've never understood the drama around that.

Balancing things like keeping people healthy and re-opening businesses and how soon can we get back to somewhat normal is the trickier part I was referring to.

Understood. It is trickier than it needs to be because selfish people keep making things difficult for all of us.

I have a friend who works at NIH, she puts on the biohazard suit like Dustin Hoffman did in Outbreak, to study the virus and those who have it. She takes her data and compiles it with others data and briefs Dr. Fauci on the findings. This isn't made up and it is as deadly as the numbers say. The selfish people who wont contribute to the greater good frustrate her to no end.

Ah, "greater good"...the Adolf Hitler argument.

I cannot believe there are still people who can't see the political manipulation we're being subjected to.

Here in Pennsylvania, our Governor has done a fine job of choosing winners and losers. His own company and campaign donors have been granted waivers to stay open. He has punished counties by not moving their "color scale" for no other reason than they spoke up against his decisions. He marched with the Black Lives Matter rioters multiple times for a photo op while now allowing others to assemble or people to go to churches. Our Secretary of Health pulled his OWN mother out of a nursing home just before he and the Governor started sending COVID patients to nursing homes. They've stopped talking about deaths because they were not happening, so they started reporting cases. The cases are not happening at a rate to justify keeping everyone shut down until the election, so now it's all about the number of tests taken.

And yes, not reported by CNN, but the CDC themselves said the actual COVID deaths are not 180,000, but around 6-8,000.

The goals of the leftists are seeing success. Citizens are turning against their fellow citizens, looking at your neighbors like they are out to kill you with the disease. People are getting violent over others not falling in line with the Government's (big G) orders. States do not have to do any enforcement, brainwashed citizens are doing it for them.

Don't just look at this assault, listen to the reporter and witnesses:

"You have to wear a mask in and keep it on." "People should wear a mask!"

Then no one bothered to help the poor old woman. Why? Afraid of getting within 6 feet of another human?

The mask isn't the issue here yet everyone keeps talking about that. People shouldn't assault other people.

I'll actively try to avoid using Fed-Ex from here out. I really hope Joe Gibbs drops them as a NASCAR sponsor.

Nike has been crossed off my list for years. Aside from their horrible politics, every pair I've had has lost it's sole...ask Zion Williamson about that. I've never had New Balance (my new favorite brand) or Adidas do that.

With any luck, the NFL will see it's dropping ratings and revenues and fire Goodell. The new Commissioner hired needs to be a no-nonsense, no politics leader. He or she needs to come in and wipe the slate clean...eliminate all politics from the sport and hope fans will forgive and return. Apoligies and amends need to be made to the fans for the way they've acted and ruined the game that we love. Uniforms should no longer be a statement of expression, make them UNIFORM again. Disrespect of the nation that pays them millions to play a game for a living should not be tolerate. The politics of the current NFL WILL kill the league. Learn from the NBA's example, they're on their deathbed for their "wokeness", obsession with BLM and affair with Communist China. They've had to sell ad space on their jerseys to survive financially. The WNBA has been worse. Those women are being beyond disrespectful to a level of absurdity. They're not just peacefully kneeling, they're making a selfish spectacle with rehearsed displays of protest. No wonder that league is practically dead.

I suggest you to check the CDC data again.

The eyes see what they want to see Gridiron. Is it true that 90+ percent of all COVID deaths were partially due to some underlying cause? Absolutely.

Is it also true that America as a country has one of the highest obesity/pre-existing condition rates? Also true. Sure one or the other might not be immediately fatal, but what happens when you combine both? If you have a pre-existing condition, you are high risk. Period. Wear the fucking mask, out of common courtesy for your fellow man.

I'm gonna simplify this argument for those of you that think this is some worldwide conspiracy to undermine our president:

Wear a mask = you care about the general wellbeing of other people

Refuse to wear a mask = you're an asshole, who doesn't give a fuck about anyone besides yourself

CR - first, I wish you a speedy recovery. Second, whomever called to say you were ok a week after testing positive committed malpractice. That determination can not be made for at least two weeks which is the incubation period. And a percentage of people will maintain a viral load for longer although they are generally not contagious after two weeks (typically, people are shedding dead viral particles at that point). So you don’t need to shelter forever and I would imagine that perhaps by now if you took another test, assuming you aren’t symptomatic and not one of the rare “long haulers” it is probably going to be negative. Please take care of yourself.

And separately, Irish is right.

The spin alot of the right is trying to put on this is that the left is over reacting and making a bigger deal out of this. Inflating numbers, trying to scare you and all because they want to make Trump look bad. The FACT of the matter is that Trump knew (and now it is on tape and we can stop the fake news excuse) very early on how bad this was and could have been a hero. NOBODY would have blamed him for Covid. Instead he tried to downplay it and hoped it would go away. He had a chance to rise to the occasion by simply warning us and letting science do its job. Simple. He could have said he did a great job, probably would have been re-elected. Instead his ego and inability to believe others know better got in the way and we have one of the worst outbreaks in the world. Full stop.

I would agree with this. He's not a good leader, or for that matter, a good human being.

I was going to say this yesterday but lets be honest there wouldn’t be a thread about this of not for Covid - thought it seemed pretty tied in.
Hard to talk about the semantics of trying to fill the stadium without going into detail about why you think they should or shouldn’t. But ill try

Re: Fans at Fed Ex

I will throw my 2 cents in about fans at Fed Ex:

This year it is obvious that we will not have any fans.

I doubt very seriously if we have an NFL season next year, that they will allow fans.

I think that by 2022 after you have had a years' worth of vaccines, they may allow very limited seating / attendance. I think we have to come to grips with the idea that our sporting events / concerts, etc.. will NEVER go back to the way they were before. Not because of laws or governors, etc., but because i think your average person will be so scared of getting sick from anything, that they will not go out very much ever again.

For example, if we build a new stadium, it would have capacity for possibly 5-10K people TOPS, we will never again see something where there is 100K fans packed in, i think that will forever be different in this country.

Just trying to be a realist because i think holding on to the idea that things will ever go "back to normal" in this country will just upset a lot of people when they realize the life they knew is gone forever.
