A key disagreement between the NFL Management Council and NFL Players Association is how to assess league revenue. If the NFLPA gets its way, the amount of money considered league revenue will jump, as will the salary cap. Thus, if the two sides reach an agreement, it is likely that the salary cap will see a fairly significant increase (beyond that which it increased under the current CBA).

Owners like Snyder and Jones are fighting the NFLPA's position because they also want less-profitable teams to get a larger share of the pie. Of course, Snyder doesn't want to give his dough over to the Cards. If the two sides cannot reach a deal, then the following year will be uncapped.

In either case, it appears more and more likely that the cap will grow considerably in 2007. Thus, contrary to my previous position that we are headed for cap hell, we may ride out this storm.
