Joe Gibbs is the man

I think it's a little unfair to judge Gibbs II based on 1 1/2 seasons. Gibbs came back to a totally different NFL. Gibbs said he has felt like he had to learn the ropes all over again and I believe him. We usually don't toss out or judge a new coach after 1 1/2 seasons (unless you are Dan Snyder).

Then why is it fair to judge coaches, such as Spurrier, that come up from college the way he was? I will give any coach three years to show me promise that the club is improving. Gibbs clock management has been infinitely better (as Malcolm and I talked about this morning) but he still has a lot of flaws that need to be addressed this offseason.

In no way would I question Joe as being a great COACH, coach being the key word. He is a great person, and knows how to build a championship team in racing. He is a great motivator and family man. there is not question as a person no one was created equal!! He is still learing the NEW NFL, and I do agree it takes more than 1 or so years to make any improvements. Which, to date since Dan took over, we have not had the same staff in place more than 2 years. It will be nice to see if Joe can guide this franchise in the right direction by building a team concept through the draft and KEY pick ups, not just name pickups. Then again, we dont have a 1st rounder next year so again free agency is going to play a part in our offseason. The draft is far more important that Dan likes to think, and hopefully Joe can get that point across for any future coaches and staffs that replace him once he calls it quits.


Thank god we have a person of his quality on our sidelines. It has been a long time waiting!

Because Spurrier quit! Walked away! Not to mention, the team seemed to be in constant turmoil, in and out of the locker room. His methods didn't seem to make sense from an NFL prospective. His blocking scheme acumen damned near got Ramsey killed. There was no sign of forward movement, just horizontal. Much to my disappointment at the time, dude was a clown, a charlatan, a carpet bagger, and those other bad things I cannot think of at the moment.

I am willing to give this coaching staff 1 more year listening to lavar on the radio yesterday he was talking about the changes and wanting 3 years together...so 1 am gonna hang with them 1 more year.....(not that i have an say lol) and..hopefully it will be this year.... Lavar turned out to be the standup guy i knew he was ...and a true reskins and if u go to the fed ex u will by far see more lavar #56 jersey's than any other he is by far the most popular redskin

I think the biggest thing with Spurrier is how he just gave up after two years. He also didn't seem to be willing to put in the hours it takes to succeed in the NFL (being on the golf course as much as possible during the season.) I think he's a great college coach with a great offensive mind, but Gibbs is better at total team management. Even though that second season was horrible, if Spurrier would have stuck it out and went the third season, I would have supported him and would have hoped he would have made the changes to correct whatever problems we had (which were quite a few,) but unfortunately, he decided to hang it up before then.
