If I can act as mediator here, I don't think anyone here is suggesting we let Heinicke walk.
I wholeheartedly say sign him up as he certainly looks like he has more upside than Allen. Like many though, I am concerned that he's not durable enough and that we've only seen a small sample size in the pro's. Thus I want him here to complete against whoever else comes here, and if he win's great; I just wouldn't hang the immediate future of the team on him without at least giving him adequate competition to prove himself against. |

Totally agree. On the flipside I dont think anyone is saying we should anoint Heineken the week one starter with zero competition or free agent acquisitions to consider. Some, like myself, are just really impressed by what he did and rooting for him to win the job. Or at the very least if we bring in a Stafford we know we got a very capable backup. Only time will tell. |
