Re: WFT Quarterback Thread - Post SEASON 2021
Alex Smith's success is directly related to a defense that shut down some opponents. AS a QB, Smith did nothing other than throw short dump off passes except for an occasional deep throw to McLaurin. I do not belive there is a single team in this league that would have any interest in him. His comeback was a great story. But it is time to read the last page where it says "The End".

Yeah, that is what I was thinking. That's probably his best bet if they'll have him. The jury is still out though as to whether anyone is going to want him after seeing how he regressed down the stretch last year. If Urban won't take him, I think he has to realize it's over.

If he wanted to be a backup he would stay here. He wants to be a starter.

Re: WFT Quarterback Thread - Post SEASON 2021
I don't think you have to wait until June 1st, to designate him as a June 1 cut. Could be wrong. If true, might as well release him asap, don't see him back next year.

He's not staying here at his current cap #. Even if he restructured it's pretty doubtful we'd even want him back.

Love Alex Smith, but he was not the same Alex Smith, and after that injury it's a little self-centered for him to think this new coaching staff owed him the opportunity to see if he could play football again. |
