It’s actually not true. There’s a rule that says if you’re making the vet minimum, you count the same against the cap as the rookie minimum. They do it for this exact reason, so vets don’t get cast aside just because a rookie saves $200K in cap space.
I don’t think cost goes into the Sundberg decision significantly at all. It’s just about finding a guy with fewer injury questions.
