Yeah, Ron said he'd rather its Fitz job "to have" than to lose, but baring any surprise he'll start week 1.
They are quite high on Heinicke though.

The big surprise is how Kyle Allen is getting ditched. Ron is not even mentioning his name anymore when talking QBs.

I think Allen was the preferred backup for Smith due to playing style. Heinicke and Fitz seem cut from the same cloth, though Fitz got triple portion in the beard department.

Good point.
But the fact we traded for him and Ron praised him several times (saying he could have had the same results if Kyle had stayed healthy etc...) had me thinking there was some sort of coach love there.
Maybe I'm just too used to seeing Jay having "his guys".
