Re: WFT vs. the bye week thread
I don't know if he is. But I hope that's what it is. At least tanking would be a strategy.
Tanking > incompetence

Re: WFT vs. the bye week thread
Just another season in paradise. Our bye week discussion is:
Are we tanking or are we just so fucking terrible, we aren't, but you couldn't tell by the play on the field. WTF baby!!!!!

Re: WFT vs. the bye week thread
Yeah seems like this is a yearly tradition here at the WP... Sad

Re: WFT vs. the bye week thread
We make a habit outta pretty much only winning close games against average or bad teams. How you do that with the league’s worst kicker is beyond me.

Re: WFT vs. the bye week thread
Maybe we can take a deeper dive into why we are 2-6
1. This was a sub .500 team last year and definitely wasn't ready to face a first place schedule this year. 2. The QB issue. 3. Free agent moves like Jackson and Samuel haven't worked out so far. 4. The QB issue. 5. Not getting enough out of this year's draft class. 6. The defense has been a big disappointment. Or maybe they simply weren't as good as we thought they were last year. Still a lot of work to do with the back 7. |

Samuel should just sit the rest of the yr and wait to be 100% next summer. CY and Sweat have not been very good, and both were supposed to be All Pro type players this yr.. Yeah the coaching has not been great but at the end of the day, the players have to step up and make plays. CY has had maybe 2 impactful plays in 8 games.. That is bad. The LBs are garbage, hopefully Davis gets better but right now that dude couldn't cover Air. Losing Thomas was also a huge blow, he was clearly the 2nd best target for TH.

7. Injuries in the offense (Fitz, Logan, Gibson, etc., etc.). 8. Brutal schedule (although I don't put much stock into this) 9. The QB issue

Totally agree. I almost wanna put the kicker debacle on there too. I mean to go into the year with Hopkins i knew was a mistake and now as a result we have Blewitt. Other than 1 and maybe 7 if in fact they just weren’t that good who is to blame for 3, and 5? 2 wasn’t anyones fault because Fitz got hurt. That move will probably never be able to be judged good or bad. I was in favor of it. Maybe there were other avenues like trading up for Jones? But the 3 and 5 are looking like poor decisions. Not trying to blame Rivera cus im not sure how much he had to do with them. Thought he had total autonomy though. |

Re: WFT vs. the bye week thread
I'm upset just like every fan, but I don't get the whole "I am 100% SURE that this team is terrible no matter what and nothing is going to change my mind and I know I'm right."
Maybe I have this approach since I lived through the Spurrier and Zorn years, which IMO where 1000% times worst than anything that has happened recently. And for anyone that wasn't around there, trust me, we were the laughing stock of the league then. To clarify, I mean that in terms of football ops, and not the off the field shit show.

That said we can't be sitting at 2-6 again at this point next year. This upcoming offseason is huge. |

There is one thing that can change my mind. Winning. I do not see this team winning more than 5 games. That is bad. There aint no way around it. For 30 years I drank the kool aid and fooled myself into believing that things would be different. Right up until this year. Our D was great and got better. Nope. TH and Fitz have to be better than Haskins and Alex. Nope. I realize the schedule is tougher but we barely beat Atlanta. We got incredibly lucky against the Giants. We lost to Denver. It is what it is Ruh. I’m not sure what fooling myself will do for the team. Not trying to be Debbie Downer and if i am I apologize but there are no participation trophies in the NFL. You win we good. You lose we aint. Hope they come outta the bye and rattle off 8 straight wins. With every ounce of my being. For 42 years - since i was 8 - this team meant the world to me. If they lost my week was fucking over. If they won nothing could bother me. But Snyder shit all over that. I ultimately blame him for everything. I know RR is up against it. I know everyone who coaches here or plays here is up against it. I would be happy just being competitive against good teams and taking care of business against bad ones. That would give me hope for the future and nothing would make me happier than donating to Mattys charity of choice. |
