I’d take AR and wouldn’t think twice

Re: How likely is it Ron and the front office will pursue Aaron Rogers?
If Heinicke helped the team win 7 games, an elite QB like Rodgers, Russ, or Watson can win 10-14 games with this team.
My only hesitation with Rodgers is that he's about two Joe Rogan podcast appearances from going into the crazy AB zone. And everyone knows the deal with Watson. That said, there is NO reason why this team shouldn't go all out for any of these three guys.

Re: How likely is it Ron and the front office will pursue Aaron Rogers?
Idk if Rodgers makes us 6 wins better with this roster on O. Is Terry As good as Adams? Probably Not. Our RBs are good but they ain’t Aaron Jones and the packers D was legit all season.
I think he would have won 10 games but that’s it.

Re: How likely is it Ron and the front office will pursue Aaron Rogers?
This team is definitely in the playoffs in 2021 with AR instead of TH. Does he give the team six more wins? Hard to say, as the defense was abysmal for parts of the season, and COVID/injuries hit at the worst time. He doesn't change those facts.
Either one of those three QBs has this team in the playoffs though, likely every year for a while. |

But at the same time - if you don't have an above-average to elite qb you ain't got shit in this league. A-Rod would solve one piece of the puzzle. I still think we need an elite MLB to help the D too.

How likely is it Ron and the front office will pursue Aaron Rogers?

And yet we were in so many games that we lost. Some fell apart late like KC, and NO because our D was gassed…why were they gassed? Because our freakin offense couldn’t keep them off the field. AR keeps em off the field, and scores more points. He needs to make up for 4 points against the Chargers, 7 against Dallas, 7 against Denver, 4 against Philly, etc. It is utter nonsense to say he doesn’t score that many more points than an offense with TH at the helm. He keeps our defense fresh against KC and NO, and again we score more points. Im sorry but he wins us 6 more games easy and I don’t think it is even a question. Unless, again, you think it is a question about whether he can score 4 more points than Taylor. Or a touchdown here, or there. He does much more than that. |

No doubt that A-Rod would have led us to a playoff run .. 7 wins with Taylor tells me a lot is right with this team .. A-Rod easy gets 3 more wins !

You're not wrong, I remember the same straight ass defense. However, while the D-line wasn't playing up to the very lofty expectations, in my opinion it was the back 7 that were the culprits. The line was getting pressure, just not sealing the deal with sacks. Either way the defense sucked for the most part.

I hope we do not pursue Rogers pre-madonna. He is good but seriously doubt he would come here. No QB's over 30 is my thought...

Re: How likely is it Ron and the front office will pursue Aaron Rogers?
Right now I'd be putting feelers out about Jimmy G. I know everyone looks at his inability to finish games like last night, but if you look beyond that I think he would be a sound interim 1-2 year starter while we look for 'our guy' in the draft. He can win games. He has playoff experience. He performs well with protection. For me he's the new Alex Smith, as long as we don't hand him the same kind of dumb contract we handed Smith.
He may not win a SB for us, but he's a marked improvement on what we have in the QB room. Given the praise he's earned from his team mates and Shanny, he's got to have the leadership skills, and he's got the physical skills TH doesn't have. For now, until we draft a franchise QB, he's better than any projected FA (hell 9ers might even have to cut him to drop that $25M hit) and likely wouldn't be too costly as a trade target (and I certainly wouldn't trade too much away in any case). Competition from other needy teams is the only issue. Interesting market between now and April. |

There is no guarantee SF is letting him go.. Is Lance really ready?

They either deal him this offseason while he's still under contact or he's going to walk away after next year for nothing.

Re: How likely is it Ron and the front office will pursue Aaron Rogers?
He's got a $25M cap hit they can't really afford and a promising rookie ready in the wings. The only way Lance proves himself is on the field, so I can't see them keeping him riding the pine another 12 months. All the language since the draft has indicated it's Garoppolo's team this season gone, and it's the future moving forward into 22. Shanny was evasive after the loss last night, which says straight away he's not sold on Jimmy G going forward. At this point that means they shop him around. Whether we get him or not (trade capital?), I'd be surprised if he's not in a new uniform by May.
