Where does the 5 years come from? Just curious.

The NFL has a rule that one a team changes uniforms they cant change them again for 5 years.

With that said I'm curious of what Jason Wright has said about getting another version in 2024 with the fans help. Did the NFL make an exception or is he full of shit and trying to quell the crybabies who are bitching they didn't have any say? I'm guessing the latter.

Wait, I thought the NFL didn't allow them to ?

EDIT: OMG they're even more incompetent than I thought:

"The league didn’t mind Washington changing the crest to the correct years (1983, 1987 & 1991); however, the team could not use the Roman numerals as the NFL owns copyrights on the Super Bowl games, including the Roman numerals for each game."

I didn’t know that. I am pretty sure the Ravens changed theirs within 5 years although there was trademark litigation going on at the time re the original shield logo with the flying “B”.

Yea that was definitely an exception due to the lawsuit they lost as you mentioned.
