RIP Dwayne Haskins

I fully understand those who are looking at this with the prevailing thought being what a shame, and no amount of picking apart what happened will make it any less sad and tragic. But I'm just not personally built that way. Someone dies who I care about, or who I once cared about, even if only for his being a player on my favorite team, I want to understand what happened.

Knowing won't bring him back but I still want to know. Understanding that Sean Taylor died defending his family from a break-in brought me an even greater understanding of who he was as a person, something that can sometimes be hard through the media.

I've never run out of gas either. But I have a hard time seeing how anybody can conclude that trying to cross an interstate is a remotely safe thing to try to do. Mooby the layout of the highway was known - he wasn't stranded in the left lane like an HOV around DC - he was in the right shoulder and when he crossed he was reported as being in the middle of the right lane and eventually struck there.

Seems like it was either a moment of incredibly poor judgment, or a moment of impaired judgment. Sad no doubt but I still want to know which.
