Ended up being a pretty dang good draft imo. Now to scour the UDFA market for some linebackers to bring to camp. Should be a pretty high destination based on our current group. Hopefully 1 can stick.

Never heard of our last pick, but CB was a position we could add another body.

Ended up drafting every position of need, except for LB.

Wouldn't have minded a OT either, but bringing Lucas back made that a bit more of a luxury.

Still a few more picks to go, but if Sterling Weatherford is not drafted, he is my top UDFA want.

I like the draft. Not sure a rotational DL in the second was a great move, but Mathis is a beast none the less. Could have gotten Paynes replacement next year if that was the plan here. Overall I think we got some real interesting pieces.

Draft sucks! First 3 picks are Snyder. The rest are done by Mayhew and Staff.
8 wins here we come!

If there is a disappointment, not drafting a MLB.

Linebacker remains a big ole problem.

8??? You are confident. Not sure the Redskins improved anywhere from last season (Yes even QB - Wentz has more upside we'll see if that happens) and certainly declined in certain areas.

And to think if only Snyder would let some of you run this team all would be well.. expert opinions for sure … not one person on this or any other forum could ever land a job on a NFL team !! Whether you are right or wrong about any player it’s all a guessing game ..

Pretty good draft in my opinion. You can call some of the picks "reaches", but that's only if you buy into the rankings. I do not. With the exception of the top 10 or so, the rankings are all over the place. I think I'll trust the scouts, coaches, and GMs who get paid for a living to evaluate the players for their skills, potential, and FIT with this team.

I do wish they had found a way to address the LB position, but it appears they stuck with their board, and not Daniel Jeremiah's board or one of the many other rankings put together by fantasy football writers, CBS, or whatever. Can't hate them for that. They were also able to maneuver around to get more picks - instead of six total, they ended up with six in the top 150.

Still work to do, but I think the draft was solid.

100% - while LB is a worry, we addressed gaps in the roster and may even have picked up a future starting QB (or at least a solid backup).

I only hope they've done their homework on the UDFA pool. Seems every year we don't bring guys in and they get picked up by other teams and succeed. Could well be our missing LBs are in that pool; maybe not a starter but at least improved depth.

And with those picked up in the draft, there will be guys surplus to requirement on other rosters soon. Could be a guy or 2 that are better fits for us.

Re: The 2022 Washington Commanders draft thread

Everyone loves the picks the day after. Grade them a year from now. We ought to do a poll now on the 2021 draft. Looking back it was just so so at best. Still a ways to go on it obviously. But the sign of a great draft and a great GM is what you do in the mid and late rounds.

What I did like is they seemed to get a real ball hawk w/ ball skills at safety in Butler. 4.39 speed w/ ball skills is exactly what we need back there. Loved that one.

Also the big TE from Nevada. He needs to be developed but that could be a steal.

And the Howell pick. Thank god they finally drafted a freakin QB. He was one of the best QB's in the country in 19 and 20. Fell off a bit last year. Don't care. Let's see how he responds to NFL coaching. Great pick.

Solid points. You are right, we can't really give them a grade yet since none of these players have played an NFL down. That's why I don't buy into the rankings - at all. Every year you get countless prospects rated high that can't make the transition to the NFL, and countless prospects rated low that ball out.

All the comments about reaching for any of these guys is as premature as the comments about how good each pick was. We just won't know for a year or two.

On paper I'm pleased.

Re: The 2022 Washington Commanders draft thread

Here is a list of UDFA’s we signed according to USA Today, includes two LB’s, a productive WR and a 6’7” 249 pound QB.
