Of course, they had to have a good enough player in RW to be able to swing a trade for those kind of assets. We haven't had anyone like that in ages.

Jerry seems like he would be fun to party with.

One of the players I met at Jason Taylor's HOF induction party told me JJ had a 3 story tent built for his HOF induction party (which was the same year). Who knows the debauchery JJ had going on in there.

Just read that McVay hired Jay Gruden as a consultant. How the tables have turned. That would have to be a little awkward.

I think that's just throwing Jay a bone - he probably gets paid to sit at home and watch games and occasionally call up McVay to offer some criticism or advice. Jay is living the dream now.

He definitely is. Away from Danny for good to join a Super Bowl winner. Regardless of the reason McVay hired him, Jay has to be thrilled.

Isn't Trent Williams there?

Brady responds to his absence:

Tampa's oline injuries are no joke at all. Just beat Dallas week 1 Tom. Great Sunday night opener.

Pretty obvious Jay didn't have what it takes to be a HC, but I'm really curious about the control he had and didn't have over the offense. Reporting during that era alluded to the run game not meshing with the pass game, but Gruden is a good enough offensive mind to know that.

Always suspected that Dan or Brucifer brought Callahan in and forced the issue. It was absolutely ludicrous to have two opposing philosophies in run/pass.

I'm surprised more Bruce stories haven't leaked from that period about the dysfunction on the field, unless Dan was the puppetmaster.

The Eagles hype machine is just insane. Especially Hurts, GMF crew just had him as the 5th best QB in the league this year. Lmao

Hurts will never, ever, ever, lead any team to the promised land.

And somehow everyone seems to forget that the Eagles were one of the suitors for Russell Wilson.

Re: Around the league 2022 Camp edition

PITTSBURGH -- The Pittsburgh Steelers lost their top receiving threat and best defender for the end of their preseason finale against the Detroit Lions.

Wide receiver Diontae Johnson and linebacker T.J. Watt were both ruled out of Sunday's 19-9 victory, although Steelers coach Mike Tomlin believes the injuries to be minor.

Johnson appeared to awkwardly land on his left shoulder as he was tackled while hauling in a 38-yard reception from Mitch Trubisky. Johnson exited during that drive and was evaluated in the blue medical tent before walking to the locker room.

Watt, the reigning Defensive Player of the Year, injured his left knee after receiving a cut block from Detroit tight end T.J. Hockenson in the second quarter. Hockenson seemed to apologize to Watt immediately after the play, and Watt remained in the game briefly before being pulled.

Steelers coach Mike Tomlin said on the broadcast that there was "no long term concern at the moment" for Johnson or Watt.

"If this is a regular-season game, we may see them back in this game," he said.

Johnson, 26, signed a two-year extension earlier this month worth up to $39.5 million.
