In fact, get rid of the entire staff, especially the conditioning coach. I give Rivera props for straightening out the mess that Snyder gave him, but he is not and (IMO) never will be a consistently winning coach. I have no idea or prediction who should replace him, but he needs to go. Washington will always be a more losses than wins team as long as he is here.

Re: Lions postgame

Davis draft profile was good size, sideline to sideline ability with good coverage skills

hes our best equipped coverage LB .. but 1 on 1 in space against a Swift or WR isnt ideal for any LB. Teams scheme and move guys around and will get a handful of snaps with a mismatch. That will happen.

Hopefully Davis can become a Marcus Washington

but LBs are cheap in FA

maybe dont use a 1R on a LB unless its a clear cut stud or someone who played LB in college but will be an edge guy (parsons)

Re: Lions postgame

Can anyone link to Ron or JDR's comments this week? I saw his comments last week but all you guys are just talking about what he said without actually linking to a transcript.

Re: Lions postgame

I have heard both comment specifically on Jamin Davis. Not sure where to find a transcript, but here's this:

https://www.yardbarker.com/nfl/artic...16457_37898247

“Well he was a little inconsistent,” Rivera said, per Commanders Wire. “And, again, as a young guy, he’s going to learn and grow, but we’re running out of time as far as that’s concerned. We gotta go out and be consistent.”

http://dcsportsking.com/2022/09/16/j...ell-in-week-1/

“Jamin was just OK in the game,” Del Rio said of Davis, per ESPN’s John Keim. “He practiced better throughout the preseason… he has to play better. He didn’t play very well last week. I saw a lot of good things this offseason, so it surprised me he didn’t play better.”

This is bad news bears on a bad day. My God.

2 defensive minded coaches in year three and this is what they give us? Unreal.

RR said one guy missed his assignment. Goal of play was to see if they could get a sack to push them out of field goal range. I can respect the aggressiveness but my Tuesday evening quarterbacking says the more pragmatic approach would have been to call a cover play and have them kick the FG. I might be wrong but at this point I believe it was 22-15 and in the 3rd quarter. Detroit was at the 21-22 yard line, playing in a dome, that would have to be one helluva sack to force them out of field goal range. I'd take the 3 knowing we outscored them 15-3 that quarter and had momentum.

My favorite was Jeter who could have tackled him at the 15 decides not to then runs in a circular arc to the end zone and pushes St Juste in the back and blocks Forrests path

It looks like there is more than one idiot on that play. Watch Fuller loafing at :06. He thinks that McCain will just take care of it. Bums...

I think you mean St-Juste. He hit low gear there... It looks terrible, but honestly, the only dude within 10 yards of Swift when he fell down was Jeter, who was signed just before the game and isn't even on the team now. I think it was just an unfortunate play. McCain recognized it immediately, but came in too hot. Fuller came in hot but he was obstructed by Chark. Forrest and Jackson were covering their responsibilities and really weren't in a position to make a play...and Swift is pretty damn good in the open field.

I think if you want to assign blame, because that is what my kids like to do...then you have to put it on St-Juste for lolly-gagging. He had the best angle to get Swift after he popped up, but hit looooowwww gear as if the play was over. You can blame McCain for missing the tackle, but at least he was aware and had some intent.

McCain has to make that tackle or at the minimum put a shot on him to stop momentum.

It’s infuriating to watch him, Will Jax and Fuller play so inconsistent. We either need a complete rebuild with these 3 or play scheme which allows them to play for their strength.

Yep, there's at least three players that probably could have made the tackle. Bad things happen when you let dudes just run around wide open. Sometimes they can have a seat for a minute and still score.
