Re: The Sam Howell Thread
Show me a QB with no running game and porous OL that is highly ranked. Brissett is too slow and would be worse.

Re: The Sam Howell Thread
only 1 way to find out . . . Brissett has a quick release. If they are having a tough time evaluating any part of the o-line and believe too much is on Howell . . . then switch and see what it looks like Brissett at the helm. At some point you have to find out how much is on Howell. I know in that last game the first 2 sacks were 100% on Howell. Then it looked like the line gave up trying. Then once they pulled Gates it looked better. Any word on possible shuffling of the o-line?

Right now, most sites that I read list Brissett as the third ranked Free Agent QB for 2024. Why not trade him and get a draft pick or two? |

Re: The Sam Howell Thread
While I'm not giving up on Sam, it may be time to pull him and see what JB can do. Save Sam from the humiliation of shattering the sack record and protect him from getting hurt. EB is going to ruin this kid.

Re: The Sam Howell Thread
The fact they have Sam throwing 40+ times tells you that EB doesn't know what he's doing. Establish the run game. Hey, if your OL sucks than that's on you guys for selecting them this off-season.

Re: The Sam Howell Thread
Yeah that was a HS level mistake from a pro qb. He literally just threw it up in the air

And have a better OL.

Re: The Sam Howell Thread
I'd rather do what some others have suggested and shake up the offensive line. Paul, Stromberg (or Larsen), Lucas instead of Charles, Gates, Wiley.

Re: The Sam Howell Thread
That seems like the most obvious plan, but I don't think Ron and EB can comprehend that. Ron is going to go down insisting he made the right decisions and has the right players, and all his "culture" talk about playing the best players is all bullshit.

Re: The Sam Howell Thread
Yep, at least try it. In Ron eyes it would having to admit he screwed up with Gates and Wiley. Stromberg or Paul are in for Charles. Gates should be next, he sucks and his tough guy antics create stupid penalties.

Re: The Sam Howell Thread
Putting in Brissett now doesn't mean you're giving up on Howell forever. But like others have pointed out, this OL might be the worst in pro football, and Howell is getting brutalized every game. 40 sacks in seven games. He's on pace to shatter the NFL record of 76 sacks, suffered by David Carr in 2002. At some point, probably right now, they are running the risk of ruining his career by continuing to keep him in there.
I say shut down Howell for the rest of the season and see if anything is different for Brissett. I doubt it will be, but you are saving your potential franchise QB from injury and killing his confidence..
