I think the mindset is to have two lead backs and to have back ups for each of them.

I think both Patterson and Williams are more in the B-Rob mold, a tough/in-between the tackles RB. We really don't have a back up in the Gibson mold, so maybe that's what they would also want.

Also, I do agree that it could also be EB wanting one of his guys in the RB room.

I feel bad for McKissic. He was extremely valuable to our check-down centric offense. I hope he can play somewhere next year.

Yes, and I dont l Iike it. If he is good enough to be our starting MLB, why sign him to a 1 year deal? Makes me wonder whether they have an eye on taking a guy high in the draft... we shall see

A little bit odd considering our cap position and other needs...... preparing to trade a DL?

Not saying this is related but I did wonder at the time whether Rons comments about Youngs 5th year option was a signal to other teams that he might be available without seeming too eager to trade him, it made no sense to make that public.

Mathis and Ridgeway, the primary backups , both had injuries last year but yeah id be using resources elsewhere. He started 8 games for ATl and will basically be our third man up so nobody can say we have no depth at d line. Same as taking one late in the draft who was bpa i guess.

Re: Commanders 2023 Free Agency Thread

It was reported repeatedly last year that they loved the IPP guy Bada at DT....... interesting to know how much they paid for the new guy, he is not even that young from a football standpoint. This move puzzles me

I wonder whether Mathis has had a set back, he looked OK couple of weeks back when training with Payne
