The reasons he was a big reach is that there was a consensus steal at the same position. Additionally the consensus had Forbes ranked as the 4-5th ranked CB which means more likely than not he would have been available 10-20 picks lower. IMO that combined with passing on the consensus steal makes it a big reach.

That said reaches can work out and steals can flop but you're not playing the odds well if you are going for the reach.

A CB who played in the SEC, its being reported he has bulked up to 180lbs right now. There is no guarantee he would be there 10 picks lower, not to mention its better to go get your guy a few picks earlier than 1 pick too late. Forbes is definitely a 1st round talent. So him being taken mid first round wasnt a reach at all. He is also a ballhawk which we havent had for years.
