Re: Around the League Week 1

Watching last night, I couldn't help feeling the Jets created the situation by not building a solid OL. AR was under pressure from the start, and Wilson often running from it. They spent all that money on AR and can't keep him upright?

That's a worrying parallel with us. We're going to face a lot of good pass rush teams this season, including those same Bills. If they aren't looking for FA and trade upgrades hard, we could be in the same boat as the Jets.

Expect going from SH to Brissett is a tiny hop down from a children's play set with a padded floor to land on

Versus going from AR to Wilson is falling out of a jet plane in flight

the stakes are entirely different

All this season is is an opportunity for the Harris group to see what they have ; they have plenty of scape goats to lay blame on for a shit season.

this season we should hope for a playoff caliber team or a total bust. the worst that could happen is the team performs average or just below and Harris and company really don't know what they have; this holds true for SH as well.

If SH comes out and has an average year and your on the fence whatever to build on him or cut bait; it puts the franchise in a tough spot.

If we were not holding out hope on Haskins the year we drafted CY, at #2 we probably had been looking at some great QBs, sigh.

I get what you mean, but I was drawing a parallel not a direct comparison. I just feel that if you want SH to succeed (who doesn't?) then this is a lesson. You want your QB to succeed, keep him upright. Of course if RR really needed to be taught that lesson after all this time, then it's already too late.

the pass protection was there, the line failed on the run.

SH holds the ball way too long.

By the end of this season either through injury or incompetent play; JB will get his shot.

I hope SH does well too but man I just don't see it yet.

Give him to the bye week to see what he has. He'll get there. Just needs more starts.

This. I think it's way too early to judge either way, but 2 at least average performances in 2 starts and 2 wins is a good start all things considered.

I think Dallas was above average but im probably splitting hairs because my sanity depends on Howell actually, finally, being a reliable quarterback.

JB has had plenty of shots. He isn’t good. Not as a starter. Sam would definitely have to get hurt for him to get another shot. With this oline that is entirely possible.

I said yet but you see all this greatness in two starts?

I bet this time next year this whole team will look different from the front office to the QB to the water boy

Everyone is on a prove it deal with the Harris group , unless you wow him you’re gone , he will want his people

I see a quarterback with two starts, two wins, who has had to learn two different offenses and plays behind a bad offensive line. Not sure what you are looking for? Arm strength? Has it. Accuracy? Has it. Mobility? Has it. Toughness? Has it. Poise? Has it.
The list of really good or great quarterbacks who weren’t on a trajectory towards the Hall of Fame after two games is as long as the list of quarterbacks who have ever started two games in the NFL. For you to already be betting that he isn’t our quarterback next year is crazy M. I hope to God Harris isn’t Snyder and has a little bit of patience.

Definitely a head scratcher, but then again, Rodgers was always able to play behind a suspect o-line in the past. I guess his age finally caught up to him.
