The Sam Howell Thread

The amount of people on Reddit saying to get rid of Sam (not even realizing he’s still on a rookie deal) is crazy. To me he’s shaping up to be another Heinicke, he’ll win you games but he’ll never get you to the promised land. Granted that could change with the next coaching regime because I don’t think we’ve hit Sam’s ceiling yet and he can be developed more but letting the dude go is wild to me.

If the new GM decides to draft a QB I think we could get a day 2 pick for Sam. There are plenty of QB hungry teams out there and Sam has displayed enough that some one would gamble on him. I would prefer that over keeping Sam and having a QB competition. If they have doubt who the actual starter is then we don't have an actual starter. But who knows at this point.

Or you can keep him as a reliable/cheap backup, since Brissett won't be around (I think he had a 1-year deal).

I think if any player gets moved, it will likely be Jon Allen.

That’s what I was thinking. If we draft a QB Sam automatically moves to QB2. Deal him later on.

I think it’ll be a lot of movement of players during the off season. Seriously can’t wait to see some of these names fly off the roster.

Fine with him being a backup, not sure about him guiding anyone along. He apparently failed to let Sam know to throw the ball to 17.
