Re: The annual NFL coaching carousel
https://www.nbcsports.com/nfl/profoo...ith-joe-schoen
Click link for full article >>>From the moment Giant executive Chris Mara told Ian O’Connor of TheAthletic.com about a previously secret informal lunch meeting between Mara and coach John Harbaugh, it appeared that Giants ownership was hell bent on hiring Harbaugh. And the absence of G.M. Joe Schoen from the session raised eyebrows regarding whether and to what extent the man supposedly running the coaching search had been undermined by it.<<< As expected the delay is over control basically. Harbaugh doesn't want to be under GM's Schoen. |

Re: The annual NFL coaching carousel
And now Harbaugh is confirmed as the Giants coach. Schoen? Who knows? I have to believe Harbaugh is keeping him on to wash jock straps or something.

Re: The annual NFL coaching carousel
I think Buffalo consider it but I doubt it without a clear upgrade lined up. With their history (Marv Levy coached 4 SB losses) I reckon they'll think twice. But he's likely on thin ice if he can't leverage Allen's best years with a real run at the SB next year.

Different owner same history. But agree their current window is closing, especially with the Pats resurgence.

Re: The annual NFL coaching carousel
Happy to admit I was wrong. Now expecting McDermott to go to the Ravens or Steelers, though if not it would be good to get him as DC (and heir apparent to DQ?), however unlikely.

I wonder which one is easier: Hiring an offensive head coach and then finding a good DC? Hiring a defensive head coach and then finding a good OC? My guess it’s easier to hire an offensive head coach because there are a lot of good DCs out there but there aren’t as many good OCs. |
