They'll get an adjustment per extra game, as they did when going to 17 games, but it's arguable that's not proportional to the increased risk of injury. And expect a drop to 2 PS games. I'm curious if the value to coaches of PS games would mean they keep 2, even if they increase to 20 games in due course.

There shouldn't even be a pre-season. 1 game at most for the fringe roster guys coaches are still making a decision on. Football is too violent to play any more games than absolutely necessary. 1 pre-season game and 17 regular season games is plenty of football!

As someone who has played and coached over here (amateur level probably not even HS equivalent back then), at least one PS game is needed like a shakedown cruise for a ship. Rookies and fringe players can only do so much in practice, even in controlled scrimmages, you need a competitive game environment to bring out those competitive juices and prep them for the regular season. There's something a game brings out, even a PS game, that you can't get from practice.

I agree with much of what you say but I still think they need a min of 4 preseason games When I played I hated them but they really did help the team.
