I personally barely knew anything about Kirk prior to the death, and after watching a few of his debates after learning about his death - while I do not agree with a lot of his perspectives, I am not happy that he was killed. I have no doubt that you will agree with me, violence is not the answer to almost all scenarios (there are a very few people on this planet who are purely evil and enjoy seeing people suffer regardless of who it is - those types of people do not deserve to live).
