A clean bill? Hardly. Proposing a bill that you know is DOA in the Senate is not doing your job. He could've easily have sent a bill that would've been approved in the Senate but chose not to. That is on him

The easiest thing would be for Johnson to cut the spending in everything already in the bill and agree to ACA subsidies. A real simple, cheap and ernest compromise. Both parties unhappy but getting something they want.

Not only that, but apparently some people voted Trump because he is supposedly the best businessman in the world who is adept at negotiating. This government shutdown has pretty much cancel out that claim.

Well you can't negotiate when you flee the country

They dont' even need to compromise. All the Senate has to do is to nuke the filibuster and pass the legislation THEY want. That's how it should be. They nuked the filibuster for SCOTUS judges and for allowing mass appointments from Trump. They can change it for this.

Come on now it was the Dems that nuked the filibuster on judges and appointees, McConnel warned them that they were making a massive mistake that would bite them sooner that they thought. And it did bite them less them less than 14 months later when the GOP added the SC nominees to the filibuster exclusion. Fortunately, the filibuster on legislation was saved by Sinema who learned the lesson the rest of her follow party members failed to learn, and preserved the filibuster for legislative actions. The Dems reward for her was to be vilified and discarded by the Dems. As bad as MAGA has been can you imagine if the filibuster was not in place what MAGA would do???

My question is have the rest of the Dems learned not to screw around with the filibuster or are they still going to kill it when they are back in power?

You are leaving some details and context out here. The Dems removed the filibuster on lower court judges because Mitch McConnell was essentially grinding the appointments for Obama judges to a halt. Reid removed it so these appointments could be passed. Whether right or wrong is dependent on what side you are defending. However, Mitch took it a step further once they got in control with a (R) president and removed the filibuster on SCOTUS judges, which personally I'm fine with.

Spoiler Alert: Mitch would have done this regardless if Reid removed it on the lower courts or not. Mitch has only cared about stacking the courts in (R) favor. He thinks that's going to be his legacy, but it most certainly is not.

Bottom line. A 60 vote filibuster favors the Republicans and not the Democrats. Why you ask? Tell me what transformative legislation has the Republicans tried to pass in the past 30 years?

Infrastructure? Nope.
Gun Safety? Nope.
Health Care? Nope.
Reproductive Rights? Nope.
Immigration Reform? Nope.

The ONLY thing Republicans care about nowadays is giving rich people tax cuts and they don't need 60 votes for that. They do that through reconciliation. They used this for the Big Beautiful Bill, which is going to cut medicare and other benefits.

https://taxfoundation.org/research/a...econciliation/

This is why they want it kept around. Dems should end it the first chance they get. Hopefully Trump will push the Senate into removing the filibuster. It would be the gift Dems have needed in a long ass time.
