Yep, it seems we offered insane money for the top WR in Indy, 2m more, yet he says in Indy, yeah his brother is close, but that doesn't scream oh goody I get to play with Jayden Daniels and live in a disfunctional politically charged city for the next several years.
Not saying DC is a disincentive, but don't forget, we're currently at war too.
It's kinda a bad time to be selling move to Washington in general.

Of course if you live in a football only bubble, yeah it's the teams fault.
It may only be 5% of a factor, but it MIGHT be a factor at this particular moment.
NFL players are people just like us, with families and human concerns just like us if we were asked to move to a new city. It's not an easy thing to do.

But back to raw football what is going on? Wheres this aggressive free agency? Why no fruit with day one difference makers?
The one with the real answer is Alec Pierce.

Where did you get that from? I haven't seen any news regarding that offer. I find it hard to believe that AP would be willing to sign 2nd tier WR to a big contract that is normally reserved for 1st tier WR.

That Linderbaum contract is insane -- 50% more than any other interior lineman, ever. Really dumb. Happy that we're not the team identified as making massive overpays (at least, not yet).

Our big signing:

Quote:
Former Chargers DE Odafe Oweh reached agreement today on a four-year, $100 million deal including $68 million guaranteed with the Washington Commanders, per @DavidMulugheta
and Andre Odom of Athletes First.

It's the Raiders. They have to pay well above premium to draw any talent.

And apparently so do we. Don't get me wrong, I like the Oweh signing. But at that price....

25mil/yr is going to get you an average DE in today's market. Your top guys will be hitting 40+ a year now. He's still only 27 so definitely in his prime.

We resigned Marcus to a 1 year deal for $7 million but he can make up to $11m with incentives.

That's great news, I think he could have landed a starting gig somewhere

Re: 2026 NFL Free Agency Thread

I wonder if this means we are more likely to pick Downs at 7 if he's available than an edge. I would tend to think so. LB still a possibility too, but edge seems a little less likely.

And I hope this doesn't mean Hendrickson goes somewhere else in our division.

I would say yes, we are likely to miss out on the top 3 edge dudes, but the giants signing a lb helps us at that super fast lb guy, plus downs, and that amazing RB.
I still think they prioritize edge over those 3 though, even now. But shoring up edge, where we really could use two is a HUGE relief. If only this was done last year when the world was shouting for it. It now put in the possibility of a wr in the draft too, but I don't see where WR ends up being bpa at #7

Re: 2026 NFL Free Agency Thread

Tua to the Falcons. Honestly, putting aside that he should retire given his scary injury history, playing on turf seems like needless added risk.

Re: 2026 NFL Free Agency Thread

I see that we signed Tim Settle. Welcome back, Tim. With the exception of Tress Way and the subpar stadium, you will recognize nothing and no one.
